DU halves development fees of students of 2019-2020 session
Authorities of Dhaka University have decided to halve the development fees of students of the ongoing 2019-2020 academic session.
The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting of the university held this evening.
The development fees of all students under the academic session 2019-2020 have been halved considering financial hardships caused by the coronavirus pandemic, said a press release of the university.
Meanwhile, university authorities in the meeting also formed two separate tribunals to determine the punishment of three teachers accused of plagiarism.
Preferring to remain anonymous, a syndicate member said the previous syndicate meeting decided to form a tribunal in determining the punishment of Samia Rahman, an associate professor of mass communication and journalism, and Syed Mahfujul Haque Marjan, a lecturer of criminology, but did not choose who would be in the tribunal.
In today's meeting, acting dean of the law faculty and syndicate member Prof Rahmat Ullah has been made chairman of one of the two tribunals.
The syndicate member also said the degree of Muhammad Omor Faruq, an assistant professor of Islamic History and Culture, was cancelled earlier on charges of plagiarism but no academic action was taken against him.
To determine his punishment, another tribunal was formed, headed by syndicate member AFM Mesbah Uddin.
