CNG driver sent to jail for raping 8th-grader in Bogura

A 27-year-old CNG driver was sent to jail in a case filed over the rape of an eighth-grader in Bogura today.
The accused, Aminur Islam, is a resident of Kahla village in Bogura Sadar upazila.
The victim's father first filed a written complaint against Aminur with the Bogura Sadar Police Station last night, based on which Aminur was arrested this morning, police said.
The father filed a rape case against Aminur around noon today with the same police station.
According to the case statement, Aminur developed a relationship with the girl and raped her after taking the victim to a wooded area on October 27.
The accused also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the rape, Sonatan Chokraborty, additional superintendent of police in Bogura, said quoting the case statement.
Aminur was arrested in Arulia area in the upazila around 5:00am today after police tracked his mobile phone, said Humayan Kabir, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Later, police produced the accused before a court which sent him to jail after recording his statement, he said.
