Charges framed against Jamaat Amir Shafikur, 185 others in sabotage case
A Dhaka court today framed charges against Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafikur Rahman and 185 others in a sabotage case filed with Motijheel Police Station in 2012.
Shafiqur Rahman and 185 others, now on bail, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Nur read out the charges to them.
The court also set March 22 next year to start the trial of the case with the complainant's deposition.
In November 2012, Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Hasan of Motijheel Police Station filed the case against 63 people on charges of detonating crude bombs and setting fire to a BRTC bus.
Sub-inspector Khondokar Zahid Ali of the same police station on April 30, 2014 pressed charges against 186 people including Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafikur Rahman in the case.
