Businessman, 5 Power Division engineers sued for ‘misappropriating Tk 2.6 crore’
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against five engineers of Power Division and a businessman on charges of misappropriating around Tk 2.6 crore.
ACC's Assistant Director Mamunur Rashid filed the case with its Integrated District Office Chattogram-2 today, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, ACC's Public Relations Officer.
The accused Power Division officials are Engineer Bhuban Bijoy Dutta, Additional Chief Engineer and manager of 150-megawatt peaking power plant at Shikalbaha in Patiya; AHM Kamal, Chief Engineer (Distribution) of Northern Electricity Supply Company; Tofazzel Hossain, acting Additional Engineer and project director of Gulshan Unit-4 Repowering Project; Abu Yusuf, Additional Chief Engineer (on PRL); and Mizanur Rahman, additional director (budget) of Chattogram Power Plant; while the accused businessman is Abdul Alim, proprietor of Power Tech International.
According to the case statement, the accused in collaboration with each other misappropriated Tk 2,59,01,997 through forgery and fraudulence between 2016 and 2018 in the name of procuring electric motor.
