40 tonnes of govt fertiliser seized in Bogura
The local administration last night seized two trucks loaded with 40 tonnes of urea fertiliser on Bogura-Dhaka highway in Bogura's Sherpur upazila.
The administration conducted the operation around 10:00pm in association with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-12), Bogura highway police and National Security Intelligence (NSI), our local correspondent reports.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Sherpur, Liakat Ali Sheikh, said, "The trucks were heading to Jhenidah's Kaliganj from a government warehouse, located at Tinmatha under Bogura Sadar. The drivers could not show any legal documents. So, we are guessing the fertiliser was sent for selling in the black market."
The two drivers and helpers are now under police custody. The process of filing a case against the drivers is underway.
