A Tangail court yesterday sentenced four people for different terms imprisonment in connection with a case for killing a minor boy for ransom in 2013.
Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Khaleda Yasmin jailed Jahangir Hossain, 30, of Ghatail upazila, and Goutam Chandra, 30, of Gopalpur upazila, till their death, and two others--Hasan Ali, 17, of Ghatail upazila, and Mohammad Sohel, 17, of Bhuanpur upazila--for 10 years imprisonment, Court Inspector Tanvir Ahmed said.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Shahanshah Mintu said the convicts abducted eight-year-old Masud Rana Shoyon from Ruhuli village in Bhuanpur upazila on his way to school on September 30, 2013.
The kidnappers later demanded Tk 5 lakh ransom from Shoyon's family for his release.
Although Shoyon's family gave them Tk 2 lakh, but the criminals killed the minor boy and buried his body at a graveyard in Tengri area in Madhupur upazila.
Later, victim's grandmother Mazeda Begum filed a case with Bhuanpur Police Station against some unidentified people on October 3 the same year.
