30 Bangladeshi teenagers return after 3 years in Indian prisons

Indian police handed over 30 Bangladeshi teenagers to Bangladesh after three years of imprisonment in India yesterday evening.
Benapole Checkpost Immigration Police officially received them from the Indian police. Indian BSF and BGB members were also present.
The returnees hail from different areas of Khulna, Barishal, Faridpur and Narail districts.
Benapole Checkpost Police Immigration OC Ahsan Habib said three and a half years ago, these young Bangladeshis went to India without passport or visa in the hopes of getting a good job.
While they were working in different houses, Kolkata police arrested and handed them over to the court, which sentenced them to three years in prison.
At the end of the sentence, they were repatriated by the two countries' home ministries. Foreign Ministry Deputy Assistant Secretary Mohammad Abdul Wadud was also there to receive the returnees.
Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said India had handed over 30 teenagers to Bangladesh Police Immigration in the afternoon.
