12 Bangladeshis return after serving three years in Indian jail for intrusion

Twelve Bangladeshis, including two children, returned home today from India after serving three years of jail terms each for intrusion.

Petrapole Immigration Police handed them over this afternoon, said Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Police.

"They were trafficked into India three-and-a-half years ago, where they were arrested by local police while working as household helps in various parts of Bengaluru," said the OC.

After serving the prison sentences, an Indian NGO arranged special travel permits for them to return, Ahsan also said.
