10 houses gutted

At least 10 houses were gutted in a fire at Pashchim Hajipara in Sadar upazila of Sunamganj district on Friday night. Witnesses said the fire originated from a stove at the kitchen of a house in the area at around 8:00pm and soon engulfed the adjoining houses. On information, two fire fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after an hour of frantic effort. The affected house owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 5 lakh.
