164 stranded Bangladeshis return from India
Hundred and sixty-four Bangladeshis, who were stranded in India for over a month, returned home this afternoon.
A special chartered flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying the passengers landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:48pm from Chennai, Kamrul Islam, general manager (public relations) of the airlines, told The Daily Star.
All the Bangladeshis are now going through health screening at the airport, said an official at the health desk, HSIA.
US-Bangla Airlines is scheduled to operate five more special flights till April 25 from Kolkata and Chennai to bring back other Bangladeshis who are stranded in India.
Sources said around 600 Tabligh Jamaat men are stranded in different parts of India. Besides, at least 1,000 people, who went to Chennai and Vellore for treatment, and several hundred others, who went to Bangalore and Hyderabad for other purposes, are stranded in India.
