The death toll now stands at 46, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services during the briefing.
Two hundred and nine people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of people detected with the infection in a day so far in the country.
With this, the total number of infected has reached 1,012.
A total of 1,905 samples were tested in 17 PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) laboratories across the country, Dr Nasima said, adding that nine more such laboratories are being prepared to conduct the tests.
Meanwhile, 5,083 people were put in home quarantine across the country and 429 in institutionalised quarantine in the last 24 hours, the official said, adding that 89 people were kept in isolation during the time.
