Reported Covid-19 deaths in a day surge post Eid
Fifty people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.
With this, the death toll due to Covid-19 in the country has reached 3,234 and the death rate now stands at 1.33 percent.
One thousand nine hundred and eighteen people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
With the fresh cases, the total number of positive cases so far in the country stands at 2,44,020 and the current infection rate is 24.87 percent.
The total infection rate stands at 20.31 percent, according to DGHS.
Bangladesh is currently 16th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.
The position is one step ahead of Turkey and one step behind Italy, according to worldometer.info.
A total of 7,712 samples were tested in 83 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 1,955 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries stands at 1,39,860 and the recovery rate at 57.31 percent.
Three hundred and seventy-four people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima added during the briefing.
Among the deceased, 44 were male and six were female while three were within 31-40 years old, six within 41-50, 17 between 51-60, 18 between 61-70, five within 71-80 and one was 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
