Amitabh Bachchan tests Covid-19 positive, condition ‘stable’ at Mumbai hospital
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's condition is now stable after he tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to the isolation ward of a hospital in Mumbai last night.
Bachchan, aged 77, is currently undergoing treatment at the respiratory isolation unit of Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan (44), also later tested positive and has been admitted to isolation unit at the same hospital.
Amitabh Bachchan's condition is "stable" at present, according to hospital sources.
So far, both of them have shown mild symptoms of Covid-19 and the initial treatment has begun, the sources said.
Earlier last night, Amitabh shared his health update on Twitter after he was admitted to the hospital following his diagnosis of Covid-19.
T 3590 -I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited ..

The actor said his family members have also been subjected to tests for coronavirus and the reports are awaited.
"I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to hospital. Hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited," Bachchan tweeted at 11:22pm.
"All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested," he added.
Less than an hour later, Abhishek also took to Twitter to announce that he too tested positive for Covid-19.
Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you.

Mumbai is India's second worst-hit metropolitan city which registered a total of 91,745 cases and 5,244 deaths so far, after Delhi.
Bachchan features in the government of India's public awareness campaign through TV against the pandemic. In the video, he is seen telling people how to avoid the contagion and the necessary measures to be taken for that.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to Bachchan's wife, actress Jaya Bachchan, and inquired about his health while wishing him speedy recovery.
Amitabh Bachchan's latest film "Gulabo Sitabo" hit OTT platform Amazon Prime, making it his first-ever digital release.
His forthcoming films include "Brahmastra", "Jhund" and "Chehre".
He is also scheduled to return as the host of the popular TV game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" for the upcoming season.
