His son Abhishek Bachchan also diagnosed with coronavirus, hospitalised

His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan (44), also later tested positive and has been admitted to isolation unit at the same hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan's condition is "stable" at present, according to hospital sources.

So far, both of them have shown mild symptoms of Covid-19 and the initial treatment has begun, the sources said.

Earlier last night, Amitabh shared his health update on Twitter after he was admitted to the hospital following his diagnosis of Covid-19.

The actor said his family members have also been subjected to tests for coronavirus and the reports are awaited.

"I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to hospital. Hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited," Bachchan tweeted at 11:22pm.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to Bachchan's wife, actress Jaya Bachchan, and inquired about his health while wishing him speedy recovery.

Amitabh Bachchan's latest film "Gulabo Sitabo" hit OTT platform Amazon Prime, making it his first-ever digital release.
