Students asked to leave halls as per decision of govt policymakers: JU admin
Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration has begun discussion with the agitating students who refused to leave the halls this morning.
Earlier, teachers held a meeting regarding the issue in presence of the vice-chancellor, reports our JU correspondent.
Professor Sohel Ahmed, provost of Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall, talked to the protesters following the meeting.
"The students were asked to leave the halls in accordance with the decision by government's high-level policymakers," he said adding that he was there to remind students that Covid-19 risks are yet to be eliminated.
"We do not have any conflict with the students, we are only thinking of their wellbeing," he said, adding that "we are asking them to leave the halls as that would be the right thing to do at the moment."
University Grants Commission (UGC) has already issued a notice saying that the halls will reopen following inoculation of the students, he mentioned.
Meanwhile, residential students of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall again broke the lock on the hall door today.
