RU students stage sit-in, give 24hr ultimatum for reopening halls, campus
Students of Rajshahi University today staged a sit-in in front of the residence of the vice chancellor and gave the authorities a 24-hour ultimatum for reopening of the campus and dormitories.
Over 100 students brought out a protest procession from Paribahan Chattar around 11:00am and stopped in front of the VC's residence, parading the main roads inside the campus.
Then, they started the sit-in programme there, reports our RU correspondent.
They were shouting slogans: "Vaccine ano, vaccine dao, campus khule dao" (give vaccine, reopen campus), and "Moder dabi ektai, hall campus khola chai" (there's only one demand, reopen halls campus).
The students ended their programme around 12:30pm with the 24-hour ultimatum declared by Mahmud Saki of Department of Islamic History and Culture on behalf of the students.
All the universities and dormitories across the country have been closed since March last year due to the pandemic.
