NSU launches new learning management system ‘CANVAS’

North South University (NSU) has launched the globally-renowned Learning Management System (LMS) "CANVAS" through a virtual session  on Sunday. In doing so, NSU becomes the first among Bangladeshi universities to bring this technology to the country's students.

CANVAS is a student, teacher, parent, and management-friendly system that works online and in the classroom. It is used by universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Oxford, and Cambridge, said a press release.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was chief guest, while chairperson of NSU and Former President of FBCCI MA Kashem was present as special guest. Among others, Freedom Fighter Lion Benajir Ahmed and chairperson of The City Bank Limited Aziz AI Kaiser, members of the university's Board of Trustees were present as guests of honour.

The session was chaired by NSU VC Professor Atiqul Islam and was moderated by Jamil Ahmed, Director of Public Relations Office. Dr M Ismail Hossain, Pro-VC of NSU, delivered the introductory speech.

Dr Dipu Moni said, "With the introduction of CANVAS, NSU has taken itself to a new height."

NSU VC Prof Atiqul Islam said, "NSU is always prompt to adopt any new technology. In continuation of that tradition, the CANVAS Learning Management System will help make online teaching and learning more efficient."

MA Kashem said in the last three semesters, NSU has waived a total of around Tk 102 crore as tuition fees.
