Khulna commuters suffer during 24-hr bus strike ahead of BNP rally
The 24-hour ban on the movement of buses in Khulna district ahead of a BNP rally is causing commuters a great deal of suffering.
Many commuters were seen waiting at the bus stands for a long time in Sonadanga Bus Terminal, Rupsa Stand Road and Gollamari, our local correspondent reports.
On the other hand, very few other transports like CNG-run auto rickshaws were seen on the roads.
The strike on 18 routes that started yesterday evening, will continue till 6pm today, said Anwar Hosen, joint secretary of Khulna Bus-Minibus-Coach Association.
The strike was called in order to avoid any damage to the vehicles centring possible chaos during BNP rally, he added.
