All people will have to enter the Ekushey Boi Mela grounds in Dhaka following health guidelines due to the Covid-19 situation, police said today.

The authorities will make arrangements for washing hands on the premises of Boi Mela 2021, scheduled to be begin on March 18, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Additional Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy.

Apart from this, there will be three-tier security system, the official said while briefing reporters at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka around 11:00am today.

Considering the present coronavirus situation, there would be some changes at the entry point to the fair ground this year, he added.

Some specific entry and exit points have been set up there and also a new entry point near the Engineering Institute has been added, the official said.

This year the security measures would be taken like the previous years and CCTV cameras would be set up at different points.

There would be certain parking arrangement and the open spaces of the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan would be kept for pedestrians. Vehicles would not be allowed in the area if there is no emergency.

About the security, he said the intelligence agencies are on it keeping the issue in consideration. Besides, there has been a surveillance committee of the Bangla Academy, he added.

Starting on March 18, the book fair will end on April 14.
