Harun-ar-Rashid no more

Former principal information officer Harun-ar-Rashid passed away at a city hospital on Saturday, aged 75.
He left behind two sons and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn him.
Harun was diagnosed with Covid-19, reports BSS, citing a press release.
In a condolence message, President Abdul Hamid prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members, according to a PID handout.
Harun served as war correspondent of the Mujibnagar Government in 1971, and later joined Bangladesh Civil Service as an information officer. He was appointed as the Principal Information Officer in 1998.
According to a Facebook post by his brother journalist Aziz Ur Rashid, Harun served as journalist at Dainik Azad before the country's independence.
During the Liberation War, he was a war correspondent at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
