'Don’t make cattle markets in Dhaka, Gazipur, N’ganj, Chattogram cities'

The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 today suggested not to set up cattle market in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Chattogram cities ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha in a bid to prevent further transmission of the novel coronavirus.

As Coivd-19 is not yet under control, the committee, in its 14th meeting, also suggested implementing "strict control" activities in Dhaka and nearby areas.

The meeting was held this evening through videoconferencing, said a press release signed by Dr Mohammad Shahidullah, president of the NTAC and its member secretary Meerjady Sabrina Flora.

NTAC's seven-point suggestions regarding cattle markets include -- not setting up cattle markets inside towns, setting up in open spaces, not allowing entry to the elderly or those who are sick, having separate entry and exit paths and sacrificing the cattle in a fixed place instead of at home.

Besides, the committee encouraged people to buy sacrificial animals online if possible, added the release.
