Team IUB provides relief to 290 flood-hit families in Chattogram and Bandarban

Students of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), operating under the banner "Team IUB", completed the first phase of a flood relief mission on July 21, distributing seven-day food packages to about 290 flood-affected families in Chattogram and Bandarban. The team, made up mainly of members from over 30 student clubs at IUB, left Dhaka on July 16 with support from donors and volunteers.
The operation covered Kanchana union in Satkania upazila of Chattogram; Noapara union of Rowangchhari upazila; and Muslim Para in Bandarban Sadar. Packages went to 70 families in Kanchana, 65 in Noapara, 70 in Rowangchhari and 55 in Muslim Para. Volunteers also provided emergency assistance to about 30 more families they came across while travelling through other flood-affected areas. The packages contained dry food, rice, pulses, oil, potato and medicine.
The initiative was funded through a crowdfunding campaign supported by donations from the IUB community and the university authorities, along with contributions from other donors and student volunteers. Team IUB acknowledged the support of the university management and the Division of Student Activities (DoSA).
The mission follows Team IUB's humanitarian response during the 2024 floods in the southeastern districts of Bangladesh, when the student-led platform assisted more than 4,500 families across seven districts. It has since continued to coordinate volunteer-led initiatives in response to emergencies.
