Turnover at Dhaka bourse hits four-month high
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) crossed Tk 2,000 crore for the first time in four months today.
The premier bourse's turnover, an important indicator of the stock market, rose 22 per cent to Tk 2,099 crore.
The benchmark index of the DSE also gained today after experiencing a fall yesterday breaking an eight-day gaining streak.
The DSEX surged 43 points, or 0.75 per cent, to 5,873.
At the DSE, 132 companies' stocks rose, 179 fell and 56 remained the same.
Premier Leasing topped the gainers' list with a 10 per cent rise followed by Provati Insurance, Desh General Insurance, Southeast Bank and Genex Infosys Ltd.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 175 crore changing hands followed by Prime Bank, LankaBangla Finance, Saif Powertec and NRB Commercial Bank.
Continental Insurance shed the most that dropped 9.47 per cent followed by Crystal Insurance, Dacca Dyeing, Runner Automobiles and Asia Insurance.
