Stocks fall for second consecutive day

Stock indices dropped today for the second consecutive day when the turnover also declined.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, dropped 14.75 points, or 0.30 percent, to close at 4,776.33.
The Shariah-compliant DSES index declined 0.40 percent to 1,041.93, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, slumped 0.46 percent to 1,771.98.
Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, declined slightly by 1 percent to Tk 288.78 crore.
Of the issues traded, 125 advanced, 202 declined, and 70 remained unchanged.
Kattali Textile posted the highest gain, rising 10 percent, while Meghna Condensed Milk Industries registered the biggest loss, dropping 10 percent.
