Stocks fall for second consecutive day

The stock market fell for the second consecutive day today as investors continue booking profits.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 69 points, or 1.14 per cent to 6,035.
Turnover, an important indicator of the market, rose 0.49 per cent to Tk 2,027 crore.
At the DSE, 133 stocks rose, 217 decline and 22 remained unchanged.
Monno Ceramics topped the gainers' list that rose 9.64 per cent followed by Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing, Monno Fabrics, Tamijuddin Textile and Paper Processing & Packaging Ltd.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 160 crore changing hands followed by National Feed Mills, Maksons Spinning, Dragon Sweater, and Kattali Textile.
Pioneer Insurance shed the most that fell 9.89 per cent followed by Alif Industries, Prime Islami Life Insurance, Pragati Insurance, and Global Insurance.
The port city bourse also dropped today. The CASPI, the general index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, fell 184 points to 17,580.
Among 318 traded stocks, 120 advanced, 181 dropped and 17 remained unchanged.
