Stocks break eight-day gaining streak
The stock market experienced a fall today breaking a gaining streak of the last eight consecutive days thanks to the profit booking tendency of the investors.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 10 points or 0.18 per cent to 5,829.
Turnover, another important indicator of the stock market, rose 12 per cent to Tk 1,719 crore.
At the DSE, 103 companies rose, 215 fell and 47 remained unchanged.
Standard Insurance topped the gainers' list that rose 10 per cent followed by City General Insurance, Index Agro Industries, Crystal Insurance, and Maksons Spinning.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 114 crore changing hands followed by Prime Bank, British American Tobacco, Saif Powertec and National Feed Mills.
Bangladesh Industrial Financial Company shed the most that dropped 6.67 per cent followed by Premier Leasing, Fas Finance, Fareast Finance and Midas Financing.
