PM asks state-owned organisations to be self-reliant

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today directed the state-owned organisations, including banks, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL), to be self-reliant.

The premier gave the instructions while presiding over the 24th meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) virtually from her official Gono Bhaban residence.

Planning Minister MA Mannan briefed reporters after the ECNEC meeting.

"The Prime Minister instructed the state-owned companies to spend money from their income. No more funds will be allotted from the government funds in upcoming days," he said.

The minister informed that the premier also instructed the authorities concerned to keep the Sheikh Russel mini stadiums at the upazila level open for all.

ECNEC approved Sheikh Russel mini stadium's 2nd phase of construction today at the upazila level, with Taka 1,649.32 crore.

The Prime Minister also ordered the authorities concerned to complete the construction work of the Super Specialised Hospital under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) quickly, Mannan mentioned.
