Foreign investment in Bangladesh fell 11% in 2020
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bangladesh has declined by about 11 per cent to $2.6 billion in 2020.
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) today revealed the information in its World Investment Report 2021.
The FDI was $2.87 billion in 2019.
According to the report, the FDI of all the South Asian countries except India has declined.
Last year, the FDI was $64.06 billion in India, up from $50.55 billion the previous year while Pakistan's FDI has decreased to $2.23 billion in 2020 from $2.1 billion in 2019.
However, the FDI has declined by 35 per cent last year globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
