‘e-GP helps cut lead-time for public purchase by 43%’

The introduction of the electronic government procurement (e-GP) system has helped cut lead-time for public purchase by 43 per cent, the planning ministry said today.
The purchase, which earlier used to take 100 days, now takes only 57 days, saving a huge time for the government, it added.
The ministry shared the data at the daylong Development Fair 2021 organised by the ministry at the Planning Commission in Dhaka today.
The ministry also showcased the Citizen Portal of the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU), which would help anyone to know about the development of a project ongoing in Satkhira while sitting at home in Dhaka.
The fair was organised to highlight the services and innovations provided by the commission, which have contributed to the development of the country, the planning ministry said in a statement.
Shamsul Alam, state minister for planning, opened the fair when Pradip Ranjan Chakraborty, secretary of the planning division; Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, secretary of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED); Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury, director general of the CPTU, and Gazi Md Saifuzzaman, additional secretary of the IMED, were also present.
More than 500 people visited the IMED stall, where success stories of the IMED and CPTU were displayed.
The fair ended at 5pm.
