A group of depositors gathered in front of Padma Bank's head office in Gulshan at noon today, demanding the return of their deposits.

They also called for action against those responsible and urged the authorities to investigate former Managing Director Tarek Reaz Khan for his alleged role in assisting former chairman Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat.

When contacted by The Daily Star, Padma Bank Managing Director Kazi Md Talha said the depositors were seeking to recover their funds.

He added that police were trying to bring the situation under control.

Despite repeated attempts, Tarek Reaz Khan didnt respond to phone calls. 

The depositors were still in front of the Padma Bank office as of the filing of this report at 12:53 pm.
