Grameen Bank Chairman Mozammel Haque passes away
Chairman of Grameen Bank Khandaker Mozammel Haque passed away at Square Hospital in Dhaka early today. He was 74.
Abul Hossain, general manager of Grameen Bank, told The Daily Star that he was suffering from kidney and old-age complications.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Dhanmondi's Taqwa Mosque after the Zuhr prayers and second Janaza at the premises of Grameen Bank after Asr prayer.
Hossain said that Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of the bank and former managing director, took part in the second Janaza.
Hossain also said Haque's body will be buried at family graveyard in Kesharparh village after Jumu prayers tomorrow.
He left behind wife, one daughter, and one son.
According to a statement of the Bank he was born in 1944 at Kesharparh village under Senbagh upazila of Noakhali district. He was appointed as Chairman of the bank in 2011 and served at the same post until his last breath.
