Workers of three closed Adamjee and Dhaka EPZ factories get dues

They had shut down due to Covid-19 pandemic

Three garment factories - Kwun Tong Apparels Limited of Adamjee EPZ, Lenny Fashions Limited and Lenny Apparels Limited of Dhaka EPZ -- that had shut down due to Covid-19 pandemic – have paid dues to their workers.

"The relentless effort of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) made it possible to pay the dues after several rounds of discussions between the executive chairman of BEPZA and the representatives of those companies," said a press release today.

Due to the global economic downturn caused by Covid-19, the companies decided to close down factories since they were unable to run their businesses.

Kwun Tong Apparels paid Tk 18.58 crore to 5,787 workers against their provident fund and gratuity.

Lenny Fashions and Lenny Apparels Ltd paid Tk 42.25 crore against the dues of 6,730 workers.
