UGC allows universities to take in-person exams
The University Grants Commission has allowed all universities to take in-person examinations for undergraduate and master's degrees.
The instruction comes after more than a year of educational institutions' closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The UGC has asked authorities to take initiatives to hold exams either online or in-person and sent letters to the universities yesterday.
Earlier, universities were only allowed to take the examinations online.
In the letter, the UGC has instructed the universities to take permission from their respective academic councils for taking measures to hold the exams in-person.
Currently, there are 49 public and 107 private universities in the country.
The universities have been shut since March 17 last year following the Covid-19 pandemic.
