Not getting EC registration: Gono Odhikar Parishad blocks Bangla Motor for 1 hour
A faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad led by Nurul Haque Nur staged a sit-in at the capital's Bangla Motor for around an hour after police obstructed their march towards the Election Commission, protesting EC's decision of not giving registration to the party.
They started the sit-in around 1:30pm and left the area around 2:30pm.
Witnesses said leaders and activists thronged near the party office at Bijoy Nagar area around 11:30am and started their march.
As they reached near the Bangla Motor, police obstructed them, putting barricade on the road.
The leaders then sat on the road and started holding a rally there, causing a traffic jam in nearby areas.
While speaking, the leaders of the party alleged that the EC deprived them from getting the registration despite the party fulfilling all conditions set by the commission.
