Korean ambassador seeks Covid-19 vaccination for their citizens living in Bangladesh
Ambassador Lee Jang-Keun has asked the Bangladesh government for assistance in vaccinating Korean nationals living in the country.
According to a press release from the embassy, the South Korean embassy in Dhaka delivered a list of Korean nationals' names who wanted to be vaccinated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March, but none of them had been vaccinated yet.
Ambassador Lee made said this when he called on Health Minister Zahid Maleque's office yesterday.
He requested the minister to facilitate Bangladesh's cooperation with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), a Seoul-based international organisation established in 1997, whose main function is to develop vaccines and deliver them to developing countries. Bangladesh is among the 36 signatories of the founding charter of IVI.
During the call, Ambassador Lee informed the minister about the start of operation of eye-care unit at the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship Hospital (BKFH) in Savar this month.
He requested the support of Bangladesh government for the successful operation of the hospital and its newly established eye-care unit.
The Korean government, through Korean International Cooperation Agency, established the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship Hospital in 1998 and handed it over to the Bangladesh government in 2008.
