Human chain formed in Manikganj over harassment of journalist Rozina
People of different walks of life in Manikganj formed a human chain today protesting the harassment of Prothom Alo's Senior Reporter Rozina Islam, who was arrested on Monday in a case filed under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
The protest programme was attended by Communist Party of Bangladesh, Udichi Shilpi Ghoshti, Khelaghar and different social, cultural, progressive and political organisations.
Addressing the programme organised by Prothom Alo Bandhushava, Manikganj district CPB President Prof Abul Islam Shikdar said Rozina Islam earned fame in the country and aboard for her investigative journalism.
Demanding the unconditional release of Rozina Islam, the CPB leader demanded exemplary punishment of the bureaucrats involved in the harassment of Rozina Islam.
Freedom fighter Azharul Islam said some bureaucrats of the health ministry harassed Rozina Islam in a planned manner for her insightful reporting about the irregularities and corruption in the health sector.
Condemning and protesting the incident, he also demanded immediate release of Rozina Islam.
