Govt signs agreement with CNN to promote Bangladesh globally
The government has entered into a partnership agreement with US-based CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) to launch the "Made in Bangladesh'" campaign to highlight Bangladesh's success in the international arena.
CNN has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), a BFTI press release said today.
Under this MoU, various export sectors of Bangladesh will be promoted on the CNN network worldwide, said the release.
The campaign will be funded by the private sector in a model of a public-private partnership aimed at increasing exports to the international market.
On the occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence and the celebration of "Mujib Borsho", the Ministry of Commerce has given BFTI the responsibility of conducting this overall digital campaign.
"We believe that the kind of quality content that CNN produces will contribute to the expansion of Bangladesh's trade in the international market and the country's long-term achievement, including ensuring the export strategy of our various industries through global promotion," said BFTI acting CEO Obaidul Azam.
He called on various non-governmental associations, organisations, chambers and companies to be directly involved in the initiative and take the opportunity to promote their brands worldwide.
BFTI will run the campaign with Spellbound Communications Limited, the local representative of CNN, under the direct supervision of the steering committee formed by the commerce ministry.
The campaign will create and edit TV commercials, bespoke editorials, promo audiovisuals, vignettes and a "Made in Bangladesh" theme week for CNN to broadcast.
In addition to this, CNN will brand five potential export sectors in Bangladesh as well as 10 top export-oriented companies in selected industries.
