Expat's death in Saudi: Tk 25 lakh cheque handed to victim’s wife
State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed today handed over a cheque of Tk 25 lakh to the wife of an expatriate worker who died in an accident in Saudi Arabia recently.
The cheque was handed over to the expat worker's wife Lucky Begum at a programme held at Goainghat upazila parishad premises in Sylhet this noon where State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed was present as chief guest.
While addressing the programme, Minister Imran Ahmed said, "When expatriate workers die, the government extends its helping hand to bring the bodies back to the country. When the body is handed over at the airport, the government provides transportation and burial cost to the victim's family members."
The government also provides financial assistance and compensation to the family members of the deceased expatriate workers, he added.
Expatriate worker Shahin Ahmed died in a lift accident in Saudi Arabia in February this year.
