A total of 300 more distressed and low-income people including tailors, rickshaw-pullers and transgender individuals hardest-hit by the Covid-19 pandemic were given financial assistance as gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Each was given Taka 1,000 in cash at an event today.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, district administration gave away the amount at a function on Shilpakala Academy premises, maintaining health rules.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil handed over the gift as the chief guest.

Additional Deputy Commissioners Nazrul Islam and Shariful Haque and District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Aminul Haque were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jalil said the government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remained beside the public in general.

He said all the worst-affected people are being brought under humanitarian support so that they can mitigate their financial hardships caused by the global pandemic.

He, however, urged the recipients to follow health rules strictly to control the spread of the deadly virus.

Earlier on Thursday, 300 underprivileged people were given similar types of financial assistance.
