Hospital at DNCC Market: Armed Forces to supervise 1,000-bed facility
The Armed Forces will supervise the 1,000-bed isolation hospital for Covid-19 patients on the ground floor of DNCC market in Mohakhali.
"The Armed Forces will coordinate the overall activities with the assistance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare," an ISPR press release, signed by its Assistant Director Rashedul Alam Khan, said yesterday.
Patients with mild symptoms, shifted from other hospitals, will be admitted there. They will be shifted to nearby specialised hospital if their condition deteriorates, said the release.
The Dhaka North City Corporation mayor will coordinate the hospital activities, it said.
A Brig Gen ranked officer of Bangladesh Army will be appointed as the hospital director. Doctors, health workers, administrative officials and a core group will be appointed from the Armed Forces to ensure its smooth management.
The rest of doctors and health workers will be appointed by the Directorate General of Health Services, the release added.
The Armed Forces will ensure all kinds of administration management and security issues of the hospital.
Meanwhile, another 300-bed specialised hospital with a 50-bed intensive care unit is being set up on the fifth floor of the market, which will be financed by the World Health Organisation and supervised by the health ministry.
If needed, ICU and pathology lab facilities for the ground floor isolation hospital will be provided by the 300-bed specialised hospital.
