One song, six legacies
For any revered musician, their legacies are more often than not passed onto subsequent generations in the family. In BTV's musical programme titled “Poriborton”, six singers who carry the bloodline of six leading musicians of the country, will present a song titled “Bangladesh Amar Bangladesh.”
Alif Alauddin, Nurjahan Alim, Humaira Bashir, Anjan Chowdhury, Yousuf Ali Khan and Badhon are the performing members in the programme. Their famed parents are Alauddin Ali, Abdul Alim, Bashir Ahmed, Probal Chowdhury, Yaqub Ali Khan and Sabina Yasmin, respectively.
Planned and directed by Anjam Masud, the programme will be aired on BTV on the second day of Eid ul Azha after the 10pm news. “The programme's concept really appealed to me, because not only is it a homage to the great works by our parents, it is also providing us a platform to make them proud,” stated Nurjahan Alim.
