“I want the world to know about our food”… Nahid Osman

Nahid Osman

Combine travel with food and this is what Nahid Osman, a celebrity chef on Maasranga TV, has introduced to Bangladesh, through “Radhunir Ranna Ghor -- Ghore Bahire”. Her journey with hosting cookery shows started with Tara (a Kolkata-based TV channel) then she moved to Rtv, and finally to Maasranga, where she hosts her own show, while travelling all around Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh has so much to offer: natural beauty, resources, our agriculture, spices, heritage and much more. It is almost a mystical experience for foreigners to sample our cuisine and rare herbs,” Nahid shared with The Daily Star.

“In fact, many people in our country don't know that you can use tea leaves in cooking! Moreover, people are unaware of the nutrient value of small herbs and plants that are found in the hill tracts. No one highlights or even talks about the wonders and the beauty of Bangladesh. The only reason I took the initiative to do a solo travelling culinary show is because I want the world to know about our country's natural beauty and food,” added Nahid.

“When I realised that my show for Tara was a hit, I couldn't stop myself from returning to my country and sharing what I know or have learnt over the years. Thankfully, Square and Maasranga stepped in to give me that opportunity,” she added.
