Theatre is a passion for Tusty
“The play was a turning point in my career. Everyone used to call me Mahela,” Tusty told The Daily Star.
She has also worked in films. Although her first movie was “Nondito Noroke”, the film “Lal Sobuje” was released earlier. Her latest big screen venture is “Hason Raja”.
“Hason Raja”, where she plays the role of Kusum, will release this year. Shot in India and Sunamganj, she co-stars with Tollywood icon Mithun Chakraborty in the film.
“The film will be a milestone in my career,” said the actress.
Before stepping into the world of acting, she used to give dance performances at home and abroad. She learnt dance at Shishu Academy and BAFA. Tusty has been a teacher at BAF Shaheen School and College for the last 11 years. “I love the job,” Tusty says. “It gives me honour and respect.”
Tusty also recently won the Television Artistes' Association elections as law and welfare secretary. On her new post, she said “I don't want to hear about one more artiste seeking help for a financial crisis. Artistes should work for the joy of it, and not be bogged down by financial worries.”
She is now busy with a number of TV projects, like series “Nil Khoje Gangchil” and “Babui Pakhir Basha”, being aired on ATN Bangla.
She is also working on a new series titled “Olpo Solpo Golpo”.
“I love playing challenging roles,” Tusty says.
She also anchors TV programme as a hobby. Besides, she has appeared in different TV commercials. With such a hectic shooting schedule, she has been absent from theatre lately. But she says theatre is very close to her heart.
