Suchitra Sen's death anniversary observed in Pabna
The third death anniversary of legendary film actress Suchitra Sen was observed amid festivities in Pabna on Tuesday, through discussion and screening of films of Suchitra Sen. Different organisations chalked out different programmes on the occasion.
Suchitra Sen Chalachitra Shangshad organised a discussion and a film festival was held at the Pabna Press Club auditorium. Meanwhile, Suchitra Sen Smrity Shangrakhhan Parishad organised a discussion and cultural programme at the Pabna Town Girls' High School, where the actress studied in her early life.
President of Suchitra Sen Chalachitra Shangshad, Zakir Hossain chaired the discussion, while among others, journalist Habibur Rahman Shopon, educationalist Akter Zaman, poet Golam Rabbani and Rezaul Karim Moni spoke on the occasion.
Suchitra Sen, one of the biggest cultural icons for Bangalees, died of a heart attack at a Kolkata nursing home at the age of 82, having been loved by people for three decades for her ethereal beauty and intense celluloid performance. She was born on April 6, 1931 at her grandfather's home at Bhangabari of Belkuchi upazila of the then greater Pabna, but her first home was her father Karunamoy Dasgupta's house in Gopalpur, Pabna.
