Ten singers celebrate 50 years of independence with ‘O Amar Desher Mati’
Celebrating the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, Rabindranath Tagore's "O Amar Desher Mati" was recreated in a new musical arrangement by ten prominent singers of the country.
The song was planned, coordinated, and arranged by Joy Shahriar. Apart from Joy, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Kumar Bishwajit, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, Shafiq Tuhin, Elita Karim, Kishore Das, Somnur Monir Konal and Rehaan Rasul have lent their voices to the rendition, made under the patronage of Alesha Mart.
Borno Chakroborty is the director of the music video, which will be released under the banner of Aajob Factory.
Joy Shahriar dedicated the rendition to the sacrifices of Bangladesh's valiant freedom fighters. "I wanted to do something memorable on the golden jubilee of our independence, and I decided to work with one of Tagore's most well-known compositions. I have tried to keep the words and the tune exactly as they are, adapting it in a faithful way," said Joy Shahriar. "I am grateful to all the artistes, and Alesha Mart, for helping me live my dream."
The song will be released on Aajob Records' Facebook and YouTube pages, on March 24, 2021. Listeners will also find the song on noted music streaming platforms around the world from March 26.
