Shilpoprobha honours artists and critics

Popular art magazine Shilpoprobha has stepped into its 7th year journey. To celebrate the occasion, the Shilpoprobha team honoured six distinguished artists with lifetime achievement awards. The event was held at Gulshan's Edge Gallery on January 22. Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art (SPBA) organised the programme.

The distinguished artists who received the honour are Mustafa Monowar, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam and Kanak Chanpa Chakma. Artist Nisar Hossain, art critic Zahid Mustafa, artist and critic Rashid Amin, art critic and researcher Sylvia Naznin and young art curator Kehkasha Sabah were also awarded with special honours.

 “SPBA will always support the country's artists and will especially nurture young talents,” expressed SPBA Chairman and Shilpoprobha's publisher Anjan Chowdhury. “We are delighted to honour the artists of Bangladesh.  Their contribution is endless and incredible.” At the event, SPBA's founder chairman Aldem B Kabir also spoke. Distinguished artists, poets, art critics, ambassadors and art collectors attended the event. Rafi Haque, artist and editor of Shilpoprobha was also present.
