A R Rahman composes and sings for Bangladesh

Legendary Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman composed and sang both in Bangla in Hindi, on the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of The Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The song's AV was shown on the last day of the 10-day Mujib Chirantan celebrations at the National Parade Square.
Renowned Bangladeshi lyricist and journalist Zulfiqer Russell wrote both the Bangla and Hindi lyrics for the song. "It was an absolute honour to work closely with A R Rahman, who is such a humble soul despite being a world class music composer." The lyricist had previously written songs in Hindi for artistes like Hariharan and Benny Dayal.

The songs, which were titled "Aaj o Shuni Bojrodhoni" and "Joy Bangabandhu" in Bangla and Hindi respectively, had the flair of A R Rahman combined with the meticulous wording of Zulfiqer Russell with it.
