Naquib Khan, Samina Chowdhury reunite after years for film song

The first song for Kaushik Shankar Das' directorial debut film Punch was recorded yesterday. The film is said to feature three songs, two of which will be composed by celebrated musician Naquib Khan. Ekhono Olosh Raat Baki is Naquib Khan's first composition in the film industry. The song is voiced by noted singer Samina Chowdhury and penned by lyricist Shahid Mahmud Jangi.

Even though Naquib Khan-Samina Chowdhury duo have gifted the listeners many hit songs over the years, this is their first film together, and their first outing after their work in Samina Chowdhury's 2014 album, Cholo Bachi . Their work together in the album Swapnojorano 31 years ago, brought Samina's career to new heights.

"I had always wanted Naquib Khan and Samina Chowdhury to work together on my first film when I finally made it -- this is a dream come true," said Kaushik Shankar Das. "Naquib Khan's musical knowledge and style, paired with Samina Chowdhury's mellofluous voice, will suit the film best."

Punch, which features Niloy Alamgir, Meghla Mukta, Momena Chowdhury and Farhad Milon, began on February 29. However, it had to stop due to the coronavirus pandemic. The crew plans to resume shooting in January, 2021.
