Moon Rahman brings the stills into life
Moon Rahman's solo art exhibition, titled, Still Life, opened at Dwip Gallery in Lalmatia on March 23. The artist enlivens the intaglio prints on display with a touch of her artistic thoughts and efforts. She has not imitated the forms of unmoving things. Rather, she has constructed and deconstructed the still things that created a harmony on space.
The objective properties of things turn out to be art and reach to the core of eternal melody on her canvas. A search for the divinity lies in her works. The artworks represent the imaginative thoughts of Rahman, who loves to work keeping the contemporary and creative aspects in mind.
Though the subjects of her artworks predominantly revolve around the motionless things of everyday use, she has also depicted the harboured boats by the riverside and the forms of rickshaw. The artist's perspective of thin relief lines, colour texture and use of single colour largely augments the aesthetic perimeter of her arts. Earthen and glass pots, chairs, tables, flowers vases and showpieces are depicted with the touch of light and shades. The artwork titled, Still and Life -12 evokes that imagery.
The blue water of river reflects vibrantly on her canvas. The artworks have a stunning simplification through which one can reach and assume the internal imaginative thoughts of the artist. Wakilur Rahman is the curator of the show, which will run till April 7.
