Masha Islam and Shishir Ahmed’s cover of Salil Chowdhury classic releases in India

The timeless song, Ja Re Jare Ure Jare Pakhi, originally written and composed by Salil Chowdhury and sung by the melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, was released in 1959.

A beautiful rendition of this song, rearranged and produced by noted musician Shishir Ahmed and voiced by Masha Islam, was released online under the label of Saregama India Ltd, recently. The music video of this iteration is directed by Mehedi Rahman Ehab. "I have been excited about the release since Saregama liked the rendition of the song. After we finished recording, they offered to release it under their banner," shares Masha Islam. "This number is available on a number of Indian music streaming apps, and it feels great to reach out to a whole new section of audience." The song is streaming on Spotify, Amazon Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, Hungama Music and Wynk Music.

Alongside playing all the instruments, including guitar and keyboard, Shishir Ahmed mixed and mastered the song. "I had a wonderful time working on this track. Ja Re Ure Jare Pakhi is one of my all-time favourite songs. It feels great that a reputed music label like Saregama loved it and released it on all their platforms internationally," he says. "I wanted to do justice to the classic track by keeping the true essence of the music intact, instead of modernising it excessively. I would love to work on some more classic renditions in the near future, along with my personal projects."
