Father's Day special: Renowned fathers and their talented children
The word 'Father' connotes someone we can depend on, no matter where we go. The love for a father is felt and conveyed all the time, yet we mark a day as Father's Day to pay a special tribute to the heroes of our lives, remember their selfless contributions in our lives.
Fatherhood is a definite life-changing experience, whoever you are. From the most common man to the biggest celebrity, becoming a father is sure to get priorities in a new order. There have been several father-daughter/son duos in our entertainment industry. Today, we take a look at some of the most known faces.
Golam Mustafa & Suborna Mustafa
Acclaimed actor and elocutionist Golam Mustafa was one of the most powerful artistes of his time. Versatile in his acting, he mastered every role, be it the hero or the villain and cemented his contributions to the silver screen. With several films to his name including "Rajdhanir Buke", "Rupali Soikote", "Dhire Bohe Meghna", "Srabon Megher Din", and "Prit Nan Jane Rit" among others, Golam Mustafa remains a silver screen legend, years after his death.

With hundreds of TV productions in her name, Suborna Mustafa acted on several projects with her father as well.
Razzak & Bapparaj
Razzak, arguably the biggest icon of Bangladeshi films, is fondly addressed as "Nayakraj", as he made tremendous contributions to Bangla cinema and won the hearts of millions over the years. Fondly known as Nayak Raj Razzak, he ruled over the silver screen and many hearts with his memorable performances. Nayak Raj had been blessed with a good family life, surrounded by his wife and children.
Razzak's son Bapparaj entered the film industry with his father's directorial venture, "Chapa Dangar Bou". Since then, Bapparaj has secured a special place in the audience's hearts through his acting prowess and charm. Remembering his father on this special occasion, Bapparaj shares, "I miss my father all the time, he is always in my mind and what I am today is because of my father."

Ferdous Wahid, being one of the most popular pop singers of the country, has inspired generations of musicians, defining a certain era in the Bangladeshi music industry.
Habib Wahid, representing a much younger population has been a craze from the earliest stages of his career. Both a singer & a composer, Habib Wahid's popularity is still soaring, as he introduced a new trend and fresh perspective into the industry. Silver screen legend Alamgir and his daughter Aankhi Alamgir, a popular singer are among the most celebrated father-daughter duos in our country. Actor, director and producer Alamgir has ruled over the film industry for a long time in his illustrious career.
National Award-winning child artiste Aankhi Alamgir, inspired by her father, has made a name for herself as a successful singer in the industry. She has proved herself to be a capable daughter of the actor and legend Alamgir. Immensely proud of her father, Akhi shares, "Every child is proud of their father, I am no exception. Khan Ataur Rahman & Agun
Khan Ataur Rahman, famously known as Khan Ata, is an important name in the history of Bangladeshi films. The late film director, actor, producer, screenplay writer, music composer, and singer is still remembered for his undeniable contributions to his country. Both an extremely talented director and actor, Khan Ata is still remembered and beloved by all. Khan Ataur Rahman, music composer and director who has directed several notable films during his career, his son, Agun chose to walk down a very different artistic path. Agun, a popular singer and actor, inherited numerous of the late legend's charm and quality. Mostly known for his singing talent, Agun has also made a name for himself in the television industry, through his acting talents. On this auspicious occasion, Agun shares, "Losing a father created a great void in one's life, something never to be filled again. I remember my father every step of the way."
Mahmudun Nabi, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, Ridwan Nabi Pancham and Tanzida Nabi
Legendary National Award winning playback singer Mahmudun Nabi was father to four children – eminent vocalists Samina Chowdhury and Fahmida Nabi and talented musicians Ridwan Nabi Pancham and Tanzida Nabi. Both Samina and Fahmida have followed their father's footsteps to become National Award winners, while Pancham is a capable music director and bassist.
Syed Ahsan Ali Sydney & Jitu Ahsan
National award winning actor Syed Ahsan Ali Sydney was a prominent figure in the Bangladeshi television drama and film industry. Syed Ahsan Ali Sydney acted in many iconic tele-fictions, he continued acting in tele-fictions till his very last days. He was the first actor to receive National Award for his role in television production.
Son of the legendary artiste, Jitu Ahsan is a popular actor, specialising in television productions. Jitu acted on films as well. Remembering his father, Jitu says, "Every day is father's day to me. His absence can never be filled, he will always be remembered."
Gazi Mazharul Anwar & Dithi Anwar
Legendary lyricist, director, producer, and screenwriter Gazi Mazharul Anwar has composed over twenty thousand songs during his illustrious career. Three of his songs have made it to BBC's list of twenty best Bangla songs of all time. The Swadhinota Padak winning composer is also known as a successful film director.
Singer Dithi Anwar, Gazi Mazharul Anwar's daughter, has been singing from a very early age. Representing the newer generation of music, Dithi is working continuously to establish herself as a singer in the industry.
Humayun Ahmed & Nuhash Humayun
Renowned writer and director Humayun Ahmed, known as the wizard of words, had a brilliant career in literature, television, and cinema simultaneously. The most popular author of our country, also one of the most renowned directors, Humayun Ahmed remains a towering figure in many aspects.
His rightful son, Nuhash Humayun, has ventured into the film industry as a director as well. Nuhash has successfully directed several powerful television productions and made his way into films as well. This year, his debut film will be screened at Cannes Film Festival.
Bulbul Ahmed & Oindrila
